The Ugly Duckling

On a farm, a duck hatched her eggs. Six yellow fluff-balls peeped, but the last was grey and large. The animals quacked and mocked.

So the duckling waddled away, past igger" data-sound="wind">rustling reeds, feeling very alone.

Winter came with silent snow. He shivered on thin ice, but a farmer rescued him.

In spring he saw his reflection in the clear lake — not a duck at all, but a graceful swan. He spread his great white wings and soared.
